About

Arnold Lopes was born in the Hawaiian Islands. He spent most of his ill-begotten youth moving up and down Highway 101 in California were he honed his skills as a theater set painter. In the museums and libraries of Hawaii and California, Arnold was drawn to artists such as Rene Magritte, Salvador Dali, Roger Dean, Hieronymus Bosch, Michelangelo, Frank Kelly Freas, Frank Frazetta and countless others. His love for science fiction and a layman’s passion for astronomy show in his work. Arnold earned an art degree at the University of Hawaii and has been teaching art at the Reston Community at Lake Anne for fourteen years. He lives in Leesburg, Virginia with his Family.
